Spice Fillers: The Best Of TATTGOC 2011
With Hogmanay fast approaching, there's very little of 2011 left. And so it's natural to look back and reflect on the past 12 months. It's been an incident-packed year for TATTGOC, with some births, some marriages, some meths and a substantive uptick in the use of exclamation marks. The Tramps began 2011 hanging on to the last threads of their Scottish Curry Lover(s) Of The Year title, but were unable to retain it (in fact, they were unaware they could even win it again, and so were pretty lax about campaigning).

REVIEW: Polo Loungin'
Killermont Polo Club, Maryhill Road
The Time: December 15, 8.30pm

The Time: December 15, 8.30pmBooking Name: John McClane
The Place Aforehand: The First And Last, Maryhill Road
In Attendance: Trampy, The Tramp, The Bulldosa, Rogan Josh Homme, The Duke, Rabbie Shankar, Sir Spicy Lover, Bobo Balti, Ravi Peshari, Rumpole Of The Balti and Makhni Knife.
Decor: A large, lovely detached house set back off Maryhill Road, the Killermont Polo Club is as classy as its name suggests, with various rooms decorated with polo paraphernalia. It genuinely feels more like a club than a restaurant, despite the big buffet bubbling away in one of the main reception rooms.
Expectations: A few Curry Clubbers had experience of this Glasgow stalwart; New York-based foreign curryspondent Martin Jalrezi had even reviewed it for a local paper before he left for The New World. The general consensus was that this was a classy joint with a rich history, and therefore the perfect place for TATTGOC’s combined third birthday/fourth Xmas bash.
The Experience:
Timing is everything. The Curry Club learned that the hard way earlier this month, when the third birthday/fourth Christmas party coincided with the arrival of Hurricane Bawbag, therefore stymieing the much-anticipated bacchanal. The weather was certainly better a week later, as Trampy, The Tramp and an elite scouting party headed to Maryhill by train, only to discover their connection had been cancelled. A short taxi trip later, they finally arrived at The First And Last – so-called because it’s the first pub you hit coming from Milngavie and the last pub on Maryhill Road – only to discover they had missed the opportunity for some free pints of Caledonia Best, the new brew from Tennent’s, by a matter of minutes. Again, timing is everything.

Pod Cast Ye Hairy Gentlemen ... It's Your Special Festive Episode Of Keep Calm And Curry On!
Let nothing you dismay, remember Christ our saviour was born on Christmas Day! In other words, it's rapidly approaching December 25 and that means a special festive edition of the nation's foremost curry podcast, Keep Calm And Curry On, featuring regular hosts Trampy and The Tramp opining about all that's spicy in the world. So please, don't be dismayed, even though neither of them were born on Christmas Day.
In the nominally festive episode three of Keep Calm And Curry On, the Tramps turn a self-aggrandising eye on why the recent TATTGOC 3rd birthday/4th Christmas meet-up had to be abandoned, wonder aloud whether haggis pakora is Scotland's ultimate fusion dish, review the sassy new Glasgow diner Mama's Rasoi and argue the toss over the merits of egg curry with the help of the TATTGOC massive. Hard-boiled!
To finish up, our burly hosts smooth things out to the sitar sounds of Okko Bekker while simultaneously trying not to raise the ire of God of Destruction Shiva in The Tramp's Jukebox Puri. It's almost an hour of spicy awesomeness, and you should be able to experience the soothing sonic vibrations in the embedded Mixcloud player below RIGHT NOW.
It will be a while, possibly forever, before KCACO officially turns up on iTunes. So if the embedded player above isn't doing it for you, you can:

Tastin' With The Tramps: Seabrook's Desi Curry Crisps!
The distinguished members of TATTGOC sure do love their curry, as evidenced by their now-outdated title of Curry Lovers Of The Year 2010. But their ongoing quest for spicy satisfaction isn't merely limited to TATTGOC's regular excursions to some of Glasgow's hidden-gem curryhouses. If they happen across almost any curry-related foodstuff, Trampy and The Tramp feel compelled to take it for a spin – and thus was born the irregular feature Tastin' With The Tramps. So what spicy product is in the hot seat this time? Why, it's only Seabrook's Desi Curry crisps! A worthy counterpoint to our recent encounter with Doritos Fire!
