Here at TATTGOC, we're always a little surprised that there haven't been more TV shows over the years devoted to curry ... but now it seems like things are hotting up. After Madhur Jaffrey's excellent Curry Nation series on the Good Food channel late last year, you can also currently see Rick Stein's enormous face get redder and redder as he travels around India in the six-part series Rick Stein's India on BBC2. Personally, our dream travel series would involve two burly, beardy men crammed into a Tuk Tuk, hurtling around Scotland and beyond in search of fantastic curry. Someone should hurry up and commission that surefire ITV2 hit pronto.
But until the debut of The Tramps' Spicy Tuk-Tuk Bromance Travelogue, we'll have to make do with a brilliant-sounding brand series coming to BBC2 in the summer called The Incredible Spice Men: Todiwala And Singh. During its six-part run, Cyrus Todiwala and Tony Singh will travel round the UK demonstrating how the addition of spices can enliven a range of dishes, from roast lamb to Welsh rarebit – basically, spicing up traditional British dishes with a bit of Mumbai magic.
Cyrus Todiwala OBE is a multi-award-winning chef who runs a number of London restaurant and rustled up the Queen’s Jubilee Banquet last year. He's the Clooney-looking dude on the right in the pic at the top of this post. Tony Singh is obviously no stranger to TATTGOC – why it was only a few months ago that the Tramps visited his excellent RoadTrip over in Edinburgh, which you can read all about HERE – and with his combination of knowledge and banter, he's a natural for the telly. So keep your eyes peeled for the new show this summer.
